Who, and what, is God?
The Creator of all of existence, as I see it, is a magnificent and ongoing process without beginning or end. Newer thinking of theoretical physicists now speak of string theory and see the Big Bang not as a beginning, but as a spec of time in a vastly larger process in which a nearby universe collides with ours, over and over, in a never-ending dance of creation....part of an infinite cycle of titanic collisions between our universe and a parallel world. I have long taken a Pantheistic view of God in this fashion, that all that exists, the universe, is God. And that we are miniscule miniatures of it in the image of God, and therefore a part of that whole, just as our DNA, cell structures and bacterium are a part of us as living beings. I pray to the Creator, to the awesomeness of His existence and, as well, with deep reverence to Mother Earth that sustains us in our physical bodies just as the Spirit of God sustains our spiritual existence. By no means, therefore, am I claiming I have found any more truth as a Christian than a Muslim friend of mine in the United Kingdom, or an African friend I correspond with in Nigeria, or a Buddhist woman in Chicago who often engaged me in many very interesting conversations about the practice of her faith, and mine. I heartily embrace it, this diversity.
